Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin to look forward to the 2022-2023 school year, River Delta Unified School District faces a school bus driver shortage like many other public-school districts around the State of California and nationwide. In 2012-2013, the transportation department had 12 school bus drivers. The district, at this time, will start the 2022-23 school year with 2 bus drivers.
California does not require transportation services for students to and from school. However, there are mandated classifications that requires districts to provide transportation services.
Starting this fall for the 2022-2023 school year, the transportation department will only provide transportation service to those students required or mandated by law.
The district will be contacting families of students who are eligible for transportation provided by the district.
The district continues to pursue many different options to recruit, train and retain qualified School Bus Drivers. The district will continue to communicate with families throughout the school year as circumstances change.
Please contact the Personnel Department if you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a school bus driver, our district offers free training and no experience is necessary.
