Beyond the Bell (After School Program)
The Walnut Grove Elementary Beyond the Bell After School Education and Safety Program (ASES) is funded through a grant from the State of California. The program is at no-cost to parents and serves students grades TK through 6th grade every day after school until 6:00 p.m. The Beyond the Bell program group leaders work collaboratively with the school site principal and staff to integrate the three program components that are: 1) Academic, 2) Enrichment, and 3) Recreation.
The academic portion includes an educational and literacy component that consists of tutoring and/or homework assistance and educational hands-on activities. The enrichment component includes a variety of activities based on student needs and interests in which STEM activities are incorporated.
The recreation component consists of but is not limited to, intramural sports for grades 4th-6th grade in flag football, volleyball, basketball and soccer, visual and performing arts, music, physical activity, and other general recreation for youth development activities which are based on student needs and interests.
